TAKING NOTES FROM CAMBODIA'S CONSERVATION STRATEGIES
TCF was one among premier Indian and Nepali conservation NGOs, a delegation of conservation professionals from which were invited on an exposure visit to Cambodia to explore the ongoing Bengal Florican conservation project here. This visit, coordinated by TCF on behalf of the delegates, was hosted by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and the Ministry of Environment, Cambodia and supported by Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund. There was much to be learned observing effective conservation strategies with community engagement, with potential for adaptation of these measures to the Indian conservation context.
TCF'S KAZIRANGA TEAM MEMBER IS NOW A SANCTUARY NATURE FOUNDATION 'PROJECT LEADER'!

Manoj Gogoi, a dynamic staff member of TCF’s Kaziranga division has been recognized as a ‘Project Leader’ by Sanctuary Nature Foundation, under its ‘Mud on Boots’ project. Manoj has been rescuing and rehabilitating scores of wild animals in need, including snakes, birds and a variety of mammals since 2012. His dedication and dynamism has won him the respect and admiration of the local community in Assam. Sanctuary Nature Foundation’s support will enhance Manoj's project activities and amplify its outreach. Congratulations Manoj!

EXPOSURE VISIT TO AN APICULTURE FARM

Village Chepenakubua lies on the edge of Kaziranga Tiger Reserve. Seen here is a group of women from this village on an exposure visit to an apiculture farm. Supported by Axis Bank Foundation, TCF's PUKAAR programme trains individuals from communities living near protected areas in sustainable,alternative livelihoods to generate supplementary income.

TCF'S STUDY ON HUMAN-SLOTH BEAR CONFLICT PUBLISHED

VERMICOMPOSTING WORKSHOP FOR FARMERS IN KUTCH

TCF's study on human-sloth bear conflict in the Kanha-Pench corridor has been published as a research article in the scientific journal PLOS ONE. The study, supported by the DeFries-Bajpai Foundation,profiles the dynamics of human-sloth bear interaction, especially encounters and attacks, in the Kanha-Pench corridor. NATURE GUIDE TRAINING AT BARNAWAPARA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY, CHHATTISGARH

On invitation by the Chhattisgarh Forest Department, TCF conducted a Nature Guide Training programme for 30 guides of Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary. The programme was well appreciated by the Forest Department, complete with classroom and field modules comprising audio-visual sessions, communication skills, wildlife study with nature interpretation, study of the region’s natural history as well as first-aid training and personal hygiene discussions. Plans are on way for a fresh session in the coming season.
